Over the past 14 years, the New Zealand Awards have played a key role in raising the profile of organic producers and helping consumers make more sustainable choices.
The British Organic Wine Awards continue this same ethos, celebrating wines made with respect for the environment, authenticity in the vineyard, and integrity in the cellar, while supporting the growth of the UK’s organic wine industry.
Our goal is simple. We seek to grow the presence of British wines both within the United Kingdom and internationally, while increasing the market share of organically and biodynamically produced wines over conventional alternatives.
We aim to achieve this by promoting the very best of British organic and biodynamic winemaking, and by helping consumers identify and select wines that represent genuine quality, integrity, and care for the environment.
We come from a consumer background, which gives us a unique perspective on both wine shows and the organic sector. We believe that the most meaningful feedback for winemakers, and the most relevant recognition for consumers, comes from the people who actually buy and enjoy the wine.
The British Organic Wine Awards use a dedicated panel of selected consumers, guided through our specially developed judging app. This approach allows us to gather real insights from genuine wine drinkers, rather than relying on a small group of industry insiders.
Many wine shows are judged by winemakers or professionals who may have unavoidable conflicts of interest, or preferences shaped by industry trends. Our model removes that bias.
